StockholmAfter breakfast, enjoy a Stockholm city tour. Once home of the Vikings, today's Sweden is a captivating mix of old and new. This capital city is the very epitome of a vibrant cosmopolitan center, alive with world-class art museums, cutting-edge fashion boutiques and sizzling night life. Remarkable architecture abounds, exemplified in the dazzling City Hall, site of the Nobel Prize reception, with its glittering gold walls and stunning colored-glass mosaics. But even in this thrilling center of culture, you'll find traces of Sweden's fabled past. In the Gamla Stan, the city's Old Town, medieval Stockholm comes to life in this beautifully preserved historic district. This afternoon, explore the city on your own or choose an optional excursion of The Royal Canal and Vasa Warship Museum. This excursion includes a one-hour cruise along the shady canal of Djurgarden and a visit to the remarkable Vasa Warship Museum, built around a restored 17th-century warship that sank in Stockholm's inner harbor. Oslo – StalheimOn this morning's city tour, your local guide will walk you through Vigeland Sculpture Park as you discover the amazing granite and bronze artwork. Catch a glimpse of the regal and impressive Royal Palace. All these pleasures await, plus the bustling trade of a thriving port city. After the tour, transfer to the Oslo train station for one of the best ways to view the wonders of Scandinavia: aboard a scenic railway that traverses this breathtaking countryside. Dizzying vistas open out on all sides as you speed from Oslo toward Myrdal, a remote mountain station located 3,000 feet above sea level. Famous for its remarkable panoramic views, Myrdal is the stepping off point for yet another glorious train ride on the world-renowned Flåm Railway. Descending 3,500 feet during a 13-mile journey into mountainous countryside, passengers glimpse wild rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascading down sheer cliffs, and mountain farms clinging perilously to steep slopes. In the heart of this rugged countryside, the historic Stalheim Hotel offers a stunning panoramic perspective of astounding fjordland views. For nearly 200 years, artists, painters and poets have drawn inspiration from the awe-inspiring majesty of this remarkable natural spectacle. Meals: B, D

Question: How many suitcases can I take with me on my trip?
Question: Is Airfare Included in the Price?
I was traveling with my parents but they were told this was a family-friendly tour. I had traveled with them on a tour of China with Gate 1 a few years ago and the group was great. However, for this trip, the tour group was geared to senior citizens - I believe everyone in the group was over 70 years old. I was the only guy on the tour in the 20s and it was a long week. Also, we had to pay an surcharge since I was a 3rd traveler and would need second room. Despite that, I was given the smallest single rooms on the planet. I could barely fit into the room and on the tiny bed. The bathrooms were so small too. I am over 6 feet tall so kept getting hurt.
Have taken a few tours with Mayflower, this was the somewhat of a disappointment. The tour guide had never been to Scandinavia and couldn't recommend restaurants and sights near the hotels. Not all hotels had hot water kettles in the room or one didn't even have it in the lobby. Our day guide in Stockholm and Bergen were very good which made the deficiency of the others apparent, especially Copenhagen. That guide gave incorrect information about changing of the guard at the palace, saying it was done at 10, 12 and 2:00. We made our plans for the day with 10:-00 in mind. They only change at 12:00. When he came on board, though he said we'd have a photo stop at the palace, it was barely a rolling stop so that if you were at either end of the coach you barely saw it. Of course the scenery was lovely and you can't take that away from the tour.

We were told this was a family oriented tour so we booked it with my adult son, who is 25 years old. We were surprised to find that this tour was for senior citizens with ages ranging from 65-85. My son was the only young person among a group of 40 travelers so it was not an enjoyable experience for him or us. The tour manager, Eugenia was terrific. Honestly, we would not have survived without her pleasant attitude and helpful nature.
