Question: How many suitcases can I take with me on my trip?
Question: Is Airfare Included in the Price?
Victor A tour guides responsibility is to enhance the value of an experience by providing facts, history, and the significance of what is being experienced. At our first meeting, Victor joked that at the end of our tour, we will all look more like him, a Spaniard. For a second, a caricature image of his face flashed before us an unshaven man with a receding hairline and a silly grin. We all burst into laughter. As a Mixologist (expert bartender) blended Spanish history and culture with a sense of humor into a perfect Sangria, Victor slowly transfused Spanish sangre into our veins until our hearts were beating to the rhythm of the flamenco castanets. As a sherpa who leads someone to the top of Mt. Everest, we are all Spaniards as we left with the seal of Espana stamped into our hearts. Muchas Gracias, Victor, and via con Dios.
Affordable Travel and Gate1 (tour operator) did excellent jobs.
The Gate 1 8 Day Affordable Spain was an excellent introduction to the historical sites of this country. We traveled during the Spring Break, March 2019. There were 29 persons. The weather was wonderful. During the actual 5 days of touring, we visited 5 different cities, each one offered a quality visit to the major historic / cultural location of that place. All were very worth while. Local guides did a very good job of explanation of what we were seeing. Afterward there was some free time for lunch / a little shopping. We took the optional tour to El Escorial, worth it. There was one full free time afternoon in Seville which was enjoyable to stroll around the city. There are two longer bus rides, Toledo to Granada at least 4 hours, and Crdoba to Madrid, longer. However, there were breaks on the road and it was fine to get some rest. Hotels were acceptable, with the Madrid Marrriott Courtyard Princessa being the best. Hesperia Sevilla Hotel put us in a room obviously smoked in, but this was changed without issue. Breakfasts were included with the best again being at the Madrid Courrtyard, others were ok. Three dinners were provided, two out at restaurants were absolutely exceptional, quality food, one at the Grand Hotel Luna De Granada was a bufffet and in my opinion, not good. Our Gate 1 Tour Director, Vera, was fantastic. She was organized, professional , friendly, cheerful and all round made the experience very positive. We would gladly take another tour under her direction. In summary, this tour is fast paced, but you will see the highlights of these cities as described in the itinerary, plenty of walking, with generally good accommodations, and if with Vera, an excellent tour director.
This was our first tour operated by Gate 1.It was very enjoyable. It exceeded our expectations. Right from the arrival to our departure all the services provided were excellent. We stayed in three hotels: Agumar in Madrid, Carmen in Granada, and Ayres in Seville. All had 4 * ratings, but we found Hotel Carmen the best. The breakfasts were alright and 3 dinners were good too, particularly the dinner in MonTolivo restaurant in Seville. The tour manager was excellent. His patience, punctuality, and commentary wer all remarkable. We would like to have him again for any future tour. Our bus operator did a tremendous job with a smiling face. All the local guides were very professional.
